A spin on the Invisible
Man formula
starring
Alias Smith And Jones refugee
Ben
(Kid Curry) Murphy as
Ben
Casey who
is exposed to radiation and finds he has the ability to become invisible
- the gimmick being he can only be unseen for fifteen minutes each day.
This comes in very handy quite handy as Casey
works
as an investigator for a government organisation called Intersect and
therefore able to indulge in a season worth's of seventies spy-fi nonsense.
Much in the
flavour of flared superhero programmes The
Six Million Dollar Man and
The Bionic Woman (no
surprise as co creator and executive producer on the show was Harve
Bennett
who also bore the same credits on both bionic shows) Gemini
Man fared
terribly in its homeland.
Only half of the episodes where aired before bad ratings resulted in
the plug being pulled. The programme fared better in the UK.
It was popular enough to spin off a Christmas
annual
courtesy of Brown
Watson (publishers
of Annuals for Kung
Fu, The Sweeney, Logan's Run
and Planet
of the Apes)
which was a stocking filler for many Gemini
Man fans.
The series is now fondly recalled and given the amount of archive TV
now commercially available it is a surprise that the series has not
been released on DVD.
