This forgotten political thriller was set in the not too distant future and mirrored anxieties of its time. After economic and social collapse the country is now run by a form of paramilitary police, The Guardians, who are opposed by a growing band of freedom fighters named after their unseen leader Quarmby. Networked by ITV (apart from Northern Ireland where it was considered "not appropriate at this time") the programme can be considered to exploit similar themes to the later BBC 2 series 1990 which starred Edward Woodward. Practically
unseen since it's first broadcast, a single episode (The Killing
Trade) of the show can be seen at the public viewing gallery in
the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in
Bradford.
