DVD NEWS SPOTLIGHT
MORE STRANGERS FROM NETWORK
Network will release the second season of STRANGERS as a web exclusive. The two-disc set should be available from 13th March and feature all five episodes, the first time that these episodes have been available since their first transmission.

MARCH 2008
Special editions of the Stanley Kubrick films 2001: A SPACE ODDYSEY, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, FULL METAL JACKET, THE SHINING and EYES WIDE SHUT will be released on 3rd March.

CHARLIE JADE: SEASON ONE - PART TWO will be released as a three-disc set on 3rd March. Charlie Jade is a science fiction television drama set in Cape Town, South Africa, in three parallel universes named Alpha, Beta amd Gamma (or Alphaverse, Betaverse and Gammaverse). The series revolves around Charlie Jade, a private detective from Alpha.

THE RAY HARRYHAUSEN BOXSET
will be released as a six-disc set on 3rd March. Three of the animator's films will be featured - 20 Million Miles To Earth, Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers and It Came From Beneath The Sea - each supported by a disc of extras.

Cult short films THE LONDON NOBODY KNOWS (1967) and LES BICYCLETTES DE BELSIZE (1969) are released on 3rd March on a single disc. The London Nobody Knows is a guided walking tour around some arcane bits of London in 1967 narrated by James Mason. Les Bicyclettes is swinging 60s musical love story directed by Douglas Hickox and stars Judy Huxtable and Anthony May.

The 1981 thriller ROAD GAMES, starring Stacey Keach and Jamie Lee Curtis under the direction of Richard Franklin, will be released on 3rd March.

The 2002 TV film BLOODY SUNDAY, directed by Paul Greengrass and starring James Nesbitt, the film tells the story of 30th January 1972, when British Soldiers shot dead 13 unarmed civilians taking part in an anti-internment civil rights in march in Derry, Northern Ireland. This event was a major turning point in the history of the Irish troubles, catapulting the conflict into a civil war, driving many young men into the IRA and fuelling a 25-year cycle of violence. The film is released on 3rd March.

Andrew Niccol's 1997 science fiction film GATTACA, starring Uma Thurman, Jude Law and Ethan Hawke, will be granted a special edition release on 3rd March. Extras will include deleted scenes, Substance Test outtake and retrospective featurette Welcome To Gattaca.

STAR STORIES: SERIES TWO
will be released on 3rd March.

ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL: SERIES FIVE
is due on 3rd March.

The Channel 5 documentary series PAUL MERTON IN CHINA is issued on 3rd March.

HAWAII FIVE-O: SEASON THREE
hits retailers on 3rd March. The same date also sees the release of THE FUGITIVE: SEASON ONE PART ONE.

PLANET TERROR, one half of Grindhouse, will be released as a two-disc edition on 10th March. Extras include commentary with Robert Rodriguez, 10 Minute Film School, The Badass Babes of Planet Terror, Casting Rebel, The Guys of Planet Terror, Sickos, Bullets, And Explosions: The Stunts Of Planet Terror and The Friend, The Doctor, And The Real Estate Agent.

Network will release CHILDREN'S WARD: SERIES ONE on 3rd March as a two-disc set. On the same date the company will also issue CROWN COURT: VOLUME TWO.

THE FIVE DOCTORS: SPECIAL EDITION will be released on 3rd March. Extras include two audio commentaries, two documentaries, isolated music score, raw studio footage, production notes, photo gallery and original Radio Times billings. The release will come complete with the original transmitted version as well as the special extended edition.

The complete BBC comedy series HIPPIES will be released on 10th March. All six episodes will be included alongside audio commentaries by writer Arthur Mathews, Hippy Invasion – 1970 archive footage from the notorious edition of the David Frost Show and photo gallery.

Four adaptations of Ian Rankine's REBUS starring Ken Stott will be released as a four-disc set on 10th March.

The rather well done BBC version of OLIVER TWIST, transmitted during the run up to Christmas, will be released on 10th March. All five episodes are included as well as an exclusive behind the scenes look at the making of the series.

MURDER MOST HORRID: SERIES ONE will see a release on 10th March. All six episodes of he first season are included alongside audio commentaries by Dawn French and writers Ian Hislop, Nick Newman and writer James Hendrie.

LOVE SOUP: SERIES TWO is released on 10th March. A boxset of seasons one and two will also be available on the same date.

WATERLOO ROAD: SERIES TWO will be released by 2 Entertain as a three-disc set on 10th March. Extras include an interview with Steph Haycock and a video diary with Mika.

10th March will see the release of the Doctor Who Christmas special THE VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED.

PRIMEVAL: SERIES TWO will rampage into retailers from 17th March. All seven episodes will be included along with Through The Anomaly - a behind the scenes look at the making of the programme. A boxset of seasons 1 and 2 will be released on the same date.

The 1972 British film version of ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, starring Fiona Fullerton as Alice, whill be released on 17th March. The film has been remastered in the original scope and will be accompanied by a 16 page booklet.

ITV drama THE PALACE, featuring the story of a new King of England and descibed by the Radio Times as "like dynasty without the bleak realism", will be released on 17th March.

HOTEL BABYLON: SERIES TWO will be unleashed as a three-disc set on 17th March.

THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES: REVENGE OF THE SLITHEEN & EYE OF THE GORGON will be issued on 17th March.

THE TWO RONNIES: SERIES THREE will be released on 17th March. SORRY: SERIES TWO will also be released on 17th March. Included on the disc is an interview with Ronnie Corbett.

ORANGES ARE NOT THE ONLY FRUIT
will be released on 17th March.

Network will release SMUGGLER: THE COMPLETE SERIES on 24th March. The two-disc set will feature all episodes backed up with a merchandise gallery and pdfs.

Network will release ARTHUR OF THE BRITONS: THE COMPLETE SERIES on 24th March as a four-disc set.

The ITV sitcom BENIDORM was heading for a shiny disc release on 25th February. It's now been bumped to 24th March.

Network will be releasing THE MORECAMBE AND WISE SHOW: THE THAMES YEARS on 24th March. The two-disc set will feature all six episodes of their duo's first Thames series from 1980 and their first four specials produced for Thames.

Network will release ESPIONAGE: SERIES ONE on 24th March as a six-disc set. The same day will also see Network release ESPIONAGE: THE MICHAEL POWELL EPISODES.

Fabulous Films will release the cult 80s cartoon THE MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD on 24th March. Extras are still to be confirmed but expect to see some of the folloowing being included; dubbing cast interviews, interviews with the series creators and music composer, singalongs, storyboards, concept designs, cast and crew biographies, deleted scenes and more.

It's toss and it's modern. It's MODERN TOSS: SERIES TWO released on 24th March.

THE ADVENTURES OF YOUNG INDIANA JONES: VOLUME TWO
will be released on 24th March.

The comedy I'M WITH STUPID, which was scheduled for a release towards the end of 2007, is now aiming for a release on 31st March.

FREEZING, airing on BBC during February, will enjoy a lease of life on shiny disc on 31st March.

WILD PALMS: THE COMPLETE SERIES will be released on 31st March.


LEWIS: SERIES TWO, starring Kevin Whatley as the titular detecive spun off from Inspector Morse, will be released on 31st March.

SOUTHLAND TALES, the disappointing follow up to Donnie Darko, will be released on 31st March. Extras are limited with only a thirty minute making of featurette included.

Amusing New Zealand comedy horror film BLACK SHEEP will be released on 31st March. Written and directed by Jonathan King the film will be backed up with an audio commentary by the director, Making Of documentary, deleted scenes and blooper reels.

Network are planning to release THIS SPORTING LIFE: SPECIAL EDITION on 31st March. No details of extras have been confirmed yet.

Network are planning to release STRANGERS: SERIES TWO on 31st March along with an individual release for RETURN TO TREASURE ISLAND on the same date.

The pair of ITV dramas MOVING WALLPAPER and ECHO BEACH will enjoy individual releases on 31st March. Both series will also be packaged together as a BOXSET.

2 Entertain will release ARE YOU BEING SERVED?: SERIES SEVEN, TERRY AND JUNE: SERIES EIGHT and IT AIN'T HALF HOT MUM: SERIES SIX on 31st March.

COLUMBO: SERIES EIGHT will be issued on 31st March. Another classic TV detective also enjoys a DVD release on the same date with MAGNUM: SEASON SEVEN available from 31st March as well.

Network will release EMERGENCY WARD 10: VOLUME ONE on 31st March as a four-disc set containing twenty four of the earliest surviving episodes from 1959 and 1960. The same date will also see Network release THE BILL: SERIES FOUR.

SEA QUEST DSV: SEASON TWO swims into retailers on 31sth March.

AND MOTHER MAKES THREE: SERIES ONE will be released by Network on 31st March as a two-disc set.

TITTY BANG BANG: SEASON TWO will be released on 31st March.

APRIL 2008
THE CHINESE DETECTIVE: SERIES TWO will be released on 7th April courtesy of 2 Entertain. The same date will see Network release THE GENTLE TOUCH: SERIES TWO as a three-disc set.

The 1978 BBC series LAW AND ORDER will be released on 7th April. Also included on the release is a making of featurette.

Recent BBC period drama LARK RISE TO CANDLEFORD will be released on 7th April.

Network will release the seminal ITV adaptation of Alan Garner's THE OWL SERVICE on 7th April. All eight episodes will be available on a two-disc set. The same day will see Network also release THE ADVENTURES OF BLACK BEAUTY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SERIES as a four-disc set.

Network plan to issue DEPARTMENT S: THE COMPLETE SERIES SPECIAL EDITION on 7th April. The eight-disc set will see the first time the series has been released in its entirety in the UK as well as a host of special features still to be confirmed.

FOYLE'S WAR: SERIES FIVE will be released by Acorn on 7th April.

The 1976 BBC adaptation of OUR MUTUAL FRIEND will be released by Acorn Media on 7th April.

THE JONATHAN MEADES ABROAD COLLECTION will be released on 7th April.

IRONSIDE: SEASON ONE is being lined up for a release on 14th April.

FOLLYFOOT: SERIES TWO will be released on 14th April by Network. The same date will also see the company issue CROWN COURT: VOLUME THREE.

ENEMY AT THE DOOR: SERIES ONE will be released alongside SERIES TWO on 14th April by Network. The same date will also see Network release individual sets of HADLEIGH: SERIES ONE and TWO.

The Peter Davison era Doctor Who adventure BLACK ORCHID is due for release on 14th April. Extras include a commentary with Davison and Sarah Sutton, locations featurette, photo gallery, deleted scenes, restorarion featurette and Stripped For Action - The Peter Davison comic strips.


30 DAYS OF NIGHT, a vampire film that gives a fresh spin to the genre and one of the better comic strip adaptations of recent, will be issued on 14th April as a special two-disc edition. Included with the release will a special 30 Days Of Night graphic novel, audio commentary, several featurettes - Pre-Production, Building Barrow, The Vampire, The Cast, The Look, Night Shoots and Stunts. Also released on the same day is 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: BLOOD TRAILS. This will contain 7 episodes based on the New Orleans storyline from the original 30 Days of Night graphic novel. Also included is a behind-the-scenes section featuring an introduction, plus interviews with 30 Days creator Steve Niles, writer and co-producer Ben Ketai, make-up effects artist Kelly Golden, and interviews with the cast.

Acorn will release SUTHERLAND'S LAW on shiny disc on 14th April as a three-disc set. The same date will also see the same company release the mini-series RHODES starring Martin Shaw.

HOLBY BLUE: SERIES ONE will be released on 21st April.

Freemantle will release ABSOLUTELY: THE COMPLETE SERIES on 21st April as an eight-disc set. Extras are yet to be confirmed.


SKINS: SERIES TWO
is released on the 21st April.

HUSTLE: SEASON FOUR will be released on 28th April. Extras include a two-part featurette - The Hard Way - which will feature almost 40 minutes of behind the scenes action on location with the cast and crew in Los Angeles.

The seminal John Carpenter directed film ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 will be granted a special edition DVD release on 28th April. Extras will include commentary by Carpenter, Video Q&A with John Carpenter and star Austin Stoker at the American Cinematheque 2002, isolated music score, production history featurette, radio spots and original theatrical trailer.


David Fincher's masterful thriller ZODIAC will be granted a two-disc Director's Cut edition for release on 28th April. Extras have yet to be announced.


MAY 2008
The Tom Baker era DOCTOR WHO adventure THE INVASION OF TIME is currently scheduled to be released on 5th May.

HAWAII FIVE-O: SERIES THREE
will hit the streets on 5th May.


RUMPOLE OF THE BAILEY: SERIES FIVE
is to be released on 5th May.

UP THE ELEPHANT AND ROUND THE CASTLE COMPLETE SERIES BOXSET
is issued on 5th May.

THE BIONIC WOMAN: SERIES ONE
(not the original series, but the recent remake) will be released on 12th May.

2 Entertain will release THE RISE AND FALL OF REGINALD PERRIN on 12th May. The same date will also see 2 Entertain release JUST GOOD FRIENDS: SERIES ONE and JUST GOOD FRIENDS: SERIES TWO as separate sets.

Acorn issues the Peter Davison starring CAMPION: THE COMPLETE SERIES on 12th May.

The Life On Mars sequel ASHES TO ASHES will be released on 12th May following transmission on BBC 1.

SLIDERS: SEASON FOUR will be available from 19th May.

O LUCK MAN: SPECIAL EDITION will enjoy a UK release on 19th May.


PEEP SHOW: SERIES FIVE is unleashed on the public on 19th May.

JUNE 2008
TORCHWOOD: SERIES TWO is currently scheduled for a boxset released on 2nd June.

Tom Baker era DOCTOR WHO adventure THE BRAIN OF MORBIUS is currently on target for a release on 2nd June.

QI: SERIES THREE
is issued on 9th June.

BBC comedy drama MURDER MOST ENGLISH, starring Anton Rodgers, will be released on 9th June by Acorn Video.


AUGUST 2008
Despite not yet being broadcast on television yet DOCTOR WHO: SERIES FOUR has been scheduled for a DVD release on 4th August.

Freemantle will release RUMPOLE OF THE BAILEY: SERIES SIX on 4th August.


SEPTEMBER 2008
Acorn will release NEW TRICKS: SEASON FOUR on 8th September.

Due on the 8th September is JUST GOOD FRIENDS: SERIES THREE. This release will also include the 1986 Christmas special.

LOVEBOAT: SEASON ONE - VOLUME ONE will be released on 4th March as a three-disc set.




Fox Home Entertainment will release three Fox Film Noir titles on 11th March. Each of the Film Noir DVDs comes fully restored and remastered, with film historian audio commentaries, poster art, still galleries, theatrical trailers, interactive pressbook galleries and more.

BLACK WIDOW
has a chat track by historian Alan K. Rode, Ginger Rogers at Twentieth Century Fox featurette, ene Tierney: Final Curtain for a Noir Icon featurette, trailer, interactive pressbook and poster, stills and behind the scenes galleries.

DAISY KENYON
has a commentary with historian Foster Hirsch, From Journeyman to Artist: Otto Preminger at Twentieth Century Fox featurette, Life in the Shadows: The Making of Daisy Kenyon, trailer, interactive pressbook and poster, stills and behind the scenes galleries.

DANGEROUS CROSSING
features commentary by historian Aubrey Solomon, Peril at Sea: Charting a Dangerous Crossing, trailer, interactive pressbook and poster, stills and behind the scenes galleries.

The three-part miniseries TIN MAN (a reqorking of Wizard of Oz) will be released as a two-disc set on 11th March. Extras will include a thirty-minute making of featurette, Beyond The Brick Road featurette, cast interviews, gag reel and more.

Universal will release THE BIONIC WOMAN: VOLUME ONE on 18th March. The modern remake of the classic series stars Michelle Ryan, Miguel Ferrer, Molly Price, Will Yun Lee and Lucy Hale. This two-disc set fatures all eight episodes of the first season. Extras include commentary on the pilot episode with executive producer David Eick, The Making of the Car Crash, Real Life Bionics, The Stunts and character profiles.

Director Richard Kelly's mystifying and over-complex follow-up film to Donnie Dark, SOUTHLAND TALES, will be released on disc on 18th March. Extras include USIDent TV: Surveilling the Southland featurette and This Is The Way The World Ends animated short.

Superior Stephen King adaptation THE MIST will be issued on DVD on 25th March. The disc will feature both a widescreen and a special black and white version of the film, commentary by director/writer Frank Darabont, deleted scenes and featurettes; there will also be a single-disc version with some of those extras.

APRIL 2008
Sony will issue THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN: 20th ANNIVERSARY EDITION on 8th April. The two-disc set will contain numerous extras including audio commentary with Terry Gilliam & co-writer/actor Charles McKeown, The Madness and Misadventures of Munchausen - An all new 3 part documentary on the making of the film, deleted scenes and Storyboard Sequences with all-new vocal performances by Terry Gilliam and Charles McKeown.

20th Century Fox will release ALIEN NATION: THE ULTIMATE MOVIE COLLECTION on 15th April. This set will collect together all five Alien Nation TV movies with oodles of extras. Each film will be accompanied by an audio commentary by Kenneth Johnson as well as a variety of image galleries, behind the scenes featurettes, concept art, storyboards and cast reunions.

MAY 2008
Fox Home Entertainment will release 24: SEASON ONE SPECIAL EDITION on 20th May. The seven-disc set will contain over twenty-five deleted scenes, Kiefer Sutherland introduction, five extended episodes, Genesis of 24 documentary, alternate season finale, commentaries on the first and last episodes, online short films and much more!
